Where It All Began...

Music Found Me – My Journey Began at 15

I didn’t find music; music found me. Growing up, I had no grand plans of being a musician—it all started with a simple day at my grandmother’s house. My cousin, who’d been taking piano lessons, was practicing her scales, diligently working on the techniques she’d been learning all week. Just for fun, I decided to give it a try, mimicking her every move.

To her surprise—and mine—I played the scale perfectly on my first try. She looked at me, wide-eyed, and said, "How did you do that? I’ve been practicing all week!” My mom was watching, and from that moment, everything changed. She saw something in me that day, a spark that would grow into a lifelong passion. At just 15 years old, on the cusp of young adulthood, music had found its way into my life in the most unexpected way.​

Fast forward, and I’ve had the privilege of teaching over a hundred kids and adults, guiding each one toward their own musical journey. Music has transformed my life, filled it with purpose, and it’s been the greatest blessing. I believe music has the power to change lives, as it changed mine. It’s my calling to help others discover that for themselves. Now, through Anitra’s School of Music I’m here to pass that gift forward.
